After an 80-day hospital stay Angelica appeared to be dying and then on a road to healing. Angelica's life was forever transformed after she was diagnosed with dialysis of the kidney. She would receive the donated kidney from her mother. Angelica and her mother had an operation that was successful on the 13th of September, 2013. The surgery was performed at Emory University Hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston, two hospitals that are located next to each other.
