Shortly thereafter thousands of students from around the world took part in the #FridaysforFuture strike, which saw students skip school on Fridays to demonstrate against climate changes. Climate activists from across the world coordinated the very first Global Strike for Climate in 2019. It was hugely successful; more than 1.6million people from over 100 countries participated.
